I could write a book of the dumb things people said to us! The “best” was “I know how you feel because I held my dog when he died”. Also up there was “you can have another baby”’ People mean well but need to stay quiet when they don’t know what to say.

Oy vey! I am not making excuses, but I think people are so uncomfortable with death, they just spew out impulsive comments. Some want to comfort, but every comment really does diminish one's own personal experience. Honestly, I am sure I have said the wrong things too during my life.
